The 2nd Asian Pacific Landfill Symposium & Korea International Waste Management and Recycling Technology Exhibition (Sep. 24-27, 2002)

Sudokwon Landfill Site Management Corporation (SLC) and Korea Society of Waste Management (KSWM) will hold The 2nd Asian Pacific Landfill Symposium & Korea International Waste Management and Recycling Technology Exhibition (APLAS Seoul 2002) on September 24-27 in Seoul.

Experts and researchers from more than 30 countries will exchange and share the ideas and experiences, and the recent founding will be presented and discussed at the Symposium.

The topics include Landfill Policies and Management, Landfill Design / Construction, Landfill Operation, Landfill Gas & Leachate Management, Special Wastes Landfill, Post-management/Reuse/Remediation of Landfills, and other landfill issues. During this symposium, 128 thesis on waste management will be presented like Strategy for a Sustainable Landfill –Planning, Operation, Aftercare by Professor Rainer Stegmann from Germany and Evaluation of Waste Management Options Emphasising Long-Term Emission from Landfill by Professor Paul H. Brunner from Austria.

Along with APLAS Seoul 2002, the Korea International Waste Management and Recycling Technology Exhibition will be held at the National Institute of Environmental Research.

In addition, technical tour to Sudokwon Landfill site, the largest landfill site in the world, and Nanji-do Landfill, a closed landfill transformed into an eco-friendly park, will be provided along with visits to Demilitarized Zone and Korean Folk Village, etc.
