The Ministry of Environment announced 18 winners of the "Idea Contest for Reducing Food Waste". For this contest, 355 submissions were evaluated for their practicability, originality, and effectiveness.

The first place went to Yoowon Kim, a university student who suggested the idea of offering side dish menus at restaurants, and providing coupons for those who leave no leftovers. Other winning ideas include, among many, providing green mileage card, left-over packaging bags at all times, customized self-menu services, and half-refill system.

These ideas of the contest will be put into a promotional booklet for distribution. After going through necessary discussions with relevant Ministries and organizations, good items will be incorporated into MOE's environmental policies.
