Korea's first LCNG (liquified-compressed natural gas) refueling station begins operation on Jan.28 in Daejeon City. Installation of this new station capable of fueling 100 NGVs required totalling of US$ 1.8 million investment. The station is equipped with 1 LNG tank (56m3), 2 vaporizers and 3 dispensers.

A liquified-compressed natural gas (LCNG) refuel system has been developed to provide natural gas fuel in the areas where natural gas pipelines are not available. A LCNG refueling station stores liquefied natural gas (LNG) to produce compressed natural gas (CNG) through instant vaporization and compression. The station can fuel both LNG and CNG vehicles.

Until now, 1 mother station and 5 daughter (mobile) stations have been accommodating 330 NGVs in operation across the Daejeon city. Now having the new LCNG refueling station, the city forecasts to provide more convenient services for NGVs, and to easily attain its 2004 target of supplying 100 new NGVs. Furthermore, the plan is to expand the LCNG station to accomodate 200 NGVs by 2006.
