The Ten Million Tree Planting Project exceeds its 2003 goal

The SUDOKWON Landfill Site Corporation announced its successful completion of the Ten Million Tree Planting Project for the year 2003. First launched in 2002 for the transformation of the landfill site into the Dream Park of ecological soundness, the corporation has been working towards planting one million trees annually. In 2003, 580,000 trees were planted during the first half while 470,000 trees were planted during the later half, exceeding the yearly target by 50,000.
During the course of the project, about 8000 citizens from neighboring areas participated in tree planting and 399 million won was paid for their labor, contributing to the local economy.

In line with the project, the corporation has been and will continue cultivating young trees to explore the seeds best suited for the landfill site. Furthermore, the corporation plans to stimulate tree growth through effective glass cutting, fertilization, and insect prevention.

The corporation said in confidence that steady promotion of ecological projects like the Tree Planting would make significant contribution to the further transformation of the landfill site into the 5 acres green space.
