EPA funds nine projects to examine new environmental approaches

EPA announced nine innovative pilot-projects to examine creative approaches to waste minimization, energy recovery, recycling and land revitalization. EPA will invest totaling of US $448,294 toward the innovative pilot projects to further protect public health of citizens against waste hazards.

The nine projects include:
1. Collecting and recycling used computers by the Reverse Distribution System, with the amount of $ 46,541
2. Collaboration of partnerships to yield a significant environmental performance and compliance improvements in the healthcare sector, with the amount of $ 74,040
3. Development of a resource guide about case studies of potential environmental contamination issues along rail lines and multiple jurisdictions, with the amount of $37,440
4. Florida green lodging certification program's web locator and green information service, with the amount of $ 30,000
5. Potential Recycling of Medium Density fiberboard, with the amount of $ 27,225
6. Financial benchmarks for recycling businesses, with the amount of $ 65,000
7. Development of an innovative design for converting a former industrial property to an urban wetlands ecosystem with a "Green" parking plaza, with the amount of $ 50,000
8. Powering groundwater cleanup by renewable energy sources, with the amount of $74,244
9. National Paint product stewardship dialogue, with the amount of $ 43, 804


State Environmental Protection Administration of PRC toughens the environmental measures

State Environmental Protection Administration of PRC announced that it will strengthen special supervisions as well as judiciary enforcements toward industries in contravention against environmental regulations; outworn facilities pass the provision period; and industries producing hazardous electric waste disposals. The toughened measures will take an effect starting on June 25 in collaboration with the related agencies.
