Ministry of Environment takes the lead on reducing food wastes by opening an on-line website and offering various programs and information on food waste reduction and recycling.

Beginning on Nov. 4, 2002, Ministry of Environment will be operating a new website (www.foodwaste.or.kr) for citizens' active participation in reducing food wastes and recycling efforts. The newly opened site provides various kinds of information on reducing environmental pollution, and encouraging the development and recruitment of recycling business and market.

The newly opened site has 4 main categories- "Reducing food wastes for life and environment", "Information on environmentally-friendly life", "Data bank on food wastes", and "People and companies in action". Also, there are other entertaining columns, such as "Stories about environmentally friendly foods", and "Good thoughts on food wastes".

This site thoroughly explains the reasons why reducing food waste is important, and shows the current situation of the food waste disposal in Korea. This site will also be helpful for anyone interested in getting information on food wastes, its disposal and research. Through this site, a big step towards reducing the environmental pollution can be taken just by clicking on the computer.
