The Environmental Management Corporation, sponsored by Ministry of Environment and Gangwon Province, will host a conference to introduce environment-related, newly developed technologies to the nation's environment industry on August 29-31, 2002.

A total of 131 technologies, including 16 designated as "new technologies" and 34 developed as part of the "core environment technology project", will be presented to an audience of over 700 environment specialists, government officials and industry representatives.  Marking the third time of its kind, the exhibitions have introduced commercialized technologies and advanced foreign technologies, providing opportunities for exchanging environmental technologies.

Part of the conference will be devoted to the discussion of issues like improving distribution systems for new technologies and providing greater support for technology development centers. In addition, renowned specialists are invited to deliver speeches on subjects, such as technology transfers, intellectual property rights, and venture projects, at the conference to be held in Gwangwon Province.

Since 1997, MOE adopted Environment Technology Evaluation Systems with the aim of promoting new technologies for the environment industry.  Until 2002, 61 new environmental technologies have been evaluated under the Environment Technology Evaluation Systems, and 26 of these technologies are applied in 192 businesses.
