Vice Minister of Environment: "Close Collaboration Between Government and Industry Needed for Electric Vehicle Technological Innovation"

▷ March 5, opening of EV Trend Korea 2024 at COEX, unveiling new technologies for electric vehicles and charging


The Ministry of Environment (Minister Han Wha-jin) announced that 'EV Trend Korea 2024' will be held at COEX (located in Gangnam-gu, Seoul) from March 6 to 8.  


Eighty-six companies related to electric vehicles and charging infrastructure are scheduled to participate in the event, showcasing various e-mobility technologies. Additionally, there will be expert conferences to evaluate the results of past electric vehicle promotion efforts and discuss future mainstreaming strategies for electric vehicles, as well as investment seminars presenting global EV investment strategies. Attendees at the event will also have the opportunity to test drive electric vehicles.


Prior to the opening ceremony on the morning of March 6, Vice Minister Lim Sang-jun of the Ministry of Environment will hold a meeting with electric vehicle manufacturers, charging station operators, and major battery manufacturers. Following this, at the opening ceremony, Vice Minister Lim will present the Ministry of Environment Minister's Award to outstanding companies* that have contributed to electric vehicle production and charging infrastructure development based on high technological capabilities. The award will also be given to K-EV 100 companies** actively participating in the conversion of internal combustion engine vehicles to electric vehicles. Major participating companies such as Hyundai Motor, LG U+, MODERNTEC, EVSIS, and others will be recognized, marking the official start of EV Trend Korea 2024.

Vice Minister Lim Sang-jun stated, "While in the past, South Korea was a 'fast follower' in the electric vehicle sector, now we are the 'first mover." He emphasized, "Through technological innovation, the government, electric vehicle manufacturers, charging operators, and battery manufacturers should closely collaborate to promote the widespread adoption of high-performance and environmentally friendly electric vehicles."
