In the capital city of Vietnam, Hanoi, Korea Environment & Resources Corporation, Environmental Management Corporation and Korea Environmental Industry Association which are the Ministry of Environment affiliated organizations opened an incorporated office of delegations on June 23rd, 2005.

The incorporated office of delegations is the second united office that has been established abroad for the support of domestic enterprises launching into the international field since the founding of Korea-China Environmental Industry Center, the first joined delegation office in Beijing, China.

At the opening ceremony, both guests and participants from the Vietnamese Natural Resources Environmental Agencies and Korean Cooperation leaders were presented to instigate higher prospects on the development of a Korea-Vietnam Environmental cooperation.

Vietnam has certainly proven its enhancement as a leading market in South Asia. It has demonstrated its recent improvement of GDP, growing 7.7%, which has earned it the top rank as the second highest record after China.

In addition, due to its rapid economic growth and urbanization, Vietnam is facing serious environmental pollution, particularly water and air pollution. These significant environmental issues are pressing hard on the shoulders of the Vietnamese government. Because of that, Korean environmental investment (320million dollars) is expected to financially support the environmental industry and to have an increase in its capacity based on the international society ODA (Official Development Assistance) level.

The Vietnamese government made a pledge to invest at least 1~2% of its GDP to an environmental division (from year 2001~2010), but with the establishment of the 「National Environmental action Plan 2001~2005」, the government implanted 21 prior programs.

While the Ministry of Environment was searching for a delegation office that could fulfill its expectations, the commitment of reciprocal assistance between organizations and associations helped with the selection and running of the delegation office. It advocated cost-cutting and it was beneficial for the organizations to arrange a mutual system between Korea and Vietnam.

Domestic environmental corporations are anticipated to demonstrate excellent performances in order to launch into international field.

While the Environmental Management Corporation(Korea) contributes by sending out information (KP: Knowledge Partnership) with World Bank to increase the capacity of its business, the Korea Environmental Industry Association will strengthen the trade of environmental information, technology, and skill with Vietnam. They will also promote a range of technology seminars and training to assist Vietnam to facilitate its environmental industry.
