On Jan. 28, 2003, a policy forum for sustainable development for the next term government, jointly hosted by the Presidential Commission on Sustainable Development with other two relevant committees, was held in the Conference Hall at Sejong Culture Center for the Performing Arts.

"Sustainable development" is often defined as "development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs". This term has been firmly established in today's society as an important paradigm for the national development in the 21st century.

The forum will focus on the trends of different countries for realizing sustainable development, and deliberate on important national policies for which sustainable development need to be considered. Also, ways for implementing measures in order to achieve a green nation will be discussed as a core task for the next term government.
