As a follow up to the revisions made on the Act on Waste Management in May this year, the Ministry of Environment drafted revisions on the law's enforcement decree and ordinance, and made a public notification of this revision.

The draft includes following revisions:
i. Businesses subject to waste reduction directives have been expanded from business generating over 200 tons of specified (hazardous) waste to those generating over 700 tons of wastes regardless of the waste type.
ii. Food waste treatment facilities must go through an annual inspection for its proper management
iii. Emission standard on Dioxin was established for incineration facilities, mandating all incineration facilities to conduct measurement of dioxin concentration levels at least once a year.

The Ministry of Environment will discuss the revisions with relevant ministries for the next twenty days, and plans to promulgate the new enforcement decree and ordinance by this year.
