Ministry of Environment announces a nation-wide expansion of its enforcement in converting diesel-powered vehicles to LPG powered vehicles, starting in the later half of 2003. Now in a trial operation in Dae-Gu Province, a use of LPG fuels is meant to markedly reduce air-polluting vehicular emissions than diesel fuels. Garbage trucks owned by the government bodies, district governments, and public institutions, as well as 25-passenger vehicles and small-sized freight vehicles will be subjected to the vehicular conversions.

During 2003.10 to 2004.3, the Ministry in hands with the city of Seoul will put 135 converted vehicles fueled by LPG on trial operations, in order to examine their traveling performances and vehicle parts. In tandem, the trial vehicular conversions will be expanded to three metropolitan areas by 2004, and to nationwide by 2005.
