MOE distributes Local Agenda 21 Promotional/Educational Items nation-wide, to consolidate greater participation of local community members towards the Agenda's further implementation. The items include promotional videos, leaflets, and lecture standards developed by the 'Korean Council for Local Agenda 21'. Distributed to 16 cities and provinces, these items will be widely used at various educational and promotional events targeting local government officials, citizens, and private companies of respective communities.

The Local Agenda 21 was first introduced in 1992 at the Rio Conference as the action plan for local governments to execute the Agenda 21. Now spread to over 93% of local autonomous governing bodies through out the country, the promotion of LA 21 has been successful in Korea as evidenced by many good implementation projects.

The MOE announces further plans to promote Local Agenda 21, especially in the areas of civil participation activities. Among its plans include adding the subjects of 'Local Agenda 21' in government officials and civil defence corps' education programs, and developing a systematic framework of LA 21 implementation aids.
